Deer dress
Shanna Kovach took my order at B-Line a few days ago and I was charmed by her deer dress. She graciously responded to my interrogation while continuing to serve customers.
This pretty lady is a Tucson native and the mama of three kids-ages 11, 7, and 3. Because this is Tucson, where degrees of separation are far fewer than six, it turns out that she was at the birth of my co-author’s baby! (When we photograph people for this blog, we of course ask their permission and explain who we are and where to find us online. So when I told her about Tucson in Style, and noted that it’s a collaboration between Michael McKisson and me, she exclaimed that she knew Michael, and told me about her work as a doula.
So back to those deer. Aren’t they sweet? Even without them, the dress is lovely. It’s hard to find three-quarter length sleeves, so this dress (from Buffalo Exchange) is quite a treasure. I love the v-neck and tie waist. I could also see wearing it with a wide brown leather belt and brown cowboy boots (though I tend to wear that combo with just about all my dresses….), or even a white patent belt and white sandals. Hmmm….
I mentioned that the deer reminded me of those in medieval tapestries, and Shanna showed me the gorgeous tattoo on the back of her neck, inspired by a Russian tin that she found in an antique store in Austin.
Oh, and this nectarine/plum tart was so pretty I had to take its photograph too. YUM.
