The invisible helmet

It’s probably no secret that I really like bikes. I like looking good and being safe when I ride. For me, that means wearing a helmet, though I don’t particularly like they way they look.

A pair of women who run a Swedish design firm have created the invisible helmet that makes riding a bike a bit more stylish.

I looked at their website and they feature a giant airbag for your head that looks like a cross between a jellyfish and a blow-up hand. I think that I’ll stick to the standard helmet…I don’t think they look ridiculous, and after crashing SEVERAL times at high speeds onto pavement without a helmet on and receiving MULTIPLE concussions, I can say that I always ride with my helmet on now and nothing looks as sexy as a head without a skull fracture.

  Also, after watching the video again, I wonder what happens when the airbag doesn’t deploy, or if the airbag gets punctured during the fall? At least with a hard helmet you know that it will work and provide a hard barrier between your head and sharp objects…
