Clean, pressed and inked
I mentioned a while back on our Facebook page that ironing wasn’t my favorite thing to do and that I wasn’t very good at it.
Julie told us that her husband took his shirts to Garcia’a Laundry to get them cleaned and pressed.
I decided to give it a try.
I am traditionally pretty thrifty and the thought of paying someone ($1.85 per shirt or $8.25 for five) was a little hard to swallow.
After taking my shirts there for a month, I’ve decided it’s worth it.
Like Julie’s husband, I am able to get at least two days worth of wear out of them before having to take them back. The starch keeps them nice and crisp.
Be warned that Garcia’s does tattoo your name into the shirt. Julie warned me about it and sure enough there it is. I think It’s kind of cool, but be careful to let them not to do it if you don’t like ink.
The only downside is that their location is a little out of the way for me and my bike commute. Are there other places in town that do a wash (not dry cleaning) and press that you like?
